Evening Primrose is a biennial flowering plant native to eastern and central North America, and has been naturalized to temperate and subtropical areas worldwide. It is alternately known as Evening Star and Sundrop. The plant produces leaves and flowers in a spiral along its stem, which can grow to 5 feet in height. The bright yellow flowers are only produced the second year. They bloom quickly in the evening and die off by noon the following day. Evening Primrose flowers are hermaphroditic (contain both male and female reproductive parts), so can self-pollinate.

History / Fun Facts :  Evening Primrose Oil has many important nutritive qualities. Much research has been done on the use of Evening Primrose Oil as an oral supplement. Some studies have indicated that in specified doses it is effective in reducing the symptoms of multiple sclerosis, hormonal acne and rosacea, and relieving chronic headaches and arthritis pain. It has also been studied as a supplement to reduce the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal.
