Rosa rubiginosa is a wild rose native to the Andes Mountains in South America. It is a deciduous shrub with dark green, apple-scented leaves and produces many fragrant, delicate pink flowers. The flowers develop into fruits or "hips", and it is the seeds within these fruits which are collected and pressed for their precious oil.

History / Fun Facts : In 1893 the University of Santiago studied 180 patients with extensive facial scarring, surgical scars, deep wrinkles, radiation and UV damage to the skin, burns and dermatitis. Pure rosehip seed oil was applied daily to the affected areas for four months. Dramatic regenerative results were seen for all participants of the study. The whole fruits of the rose bush (rosehips) make a delicious and nutritious tea, high in Vitamin C and Provitamin A.

Characteristics : Pure rosehip seed oil is a very light, non-greasy oil which absorbs into the skin quickly, leaving skin feeling soft and clean. It is a beautiful amber - orange color with a mild, nutty fragrance.
